Board of Trustees
Neighborhood church is self-governed by a group of elected trustees in
conjunction with the Senior Minister. The Board of Trustees is elected
at the annual church meeting each June to act on behalf of the
congregation, set policies, and monitor executive performance.
Board meetings are the fourth Tuesday of every month. Boards meetings
are open to church members, who may present new business with advance
notice to the president.

Church Committees
Committees form the backbone of our Church, and, from the standpoint of
the individual congregant, participation in a committee means contact
with people of common interests in a small group setting. Terms on
committees generally start June 1st, along with our fiscal year, but one
can ask to join any time and negotiate a trial period as you wish. If you
are interested in volunteering to serve on a committee, please contact
the committee chair.
Finance Committee: Oversees the Church pledge drive,
contacts member households to determine annual pledge contributions and
compiles expected pledge revenue data for annual budget.
Stewardship Committee: Oversees the church pledging drive,
contacting member households to determine annual pledge contributions and
compiling expected revenue data for annual budget.
Planned Giving Committee:
Ensures a strong future for the Church by encouraging people to make
provisions for Neighborhood Church in their end-of-life plans.
Neighborhood Marketplace and Bookstore:
Stocks and runs the church market which includes the bookstore, fair
trade items, altar flower dedications, and sermon CD sales. Books from
our UU Beacon Press are made available, as well as other titles of
potential interest to the congregation.
Dining for Dollars:
Fundraiser in which church members host meals and events for members and
friends to bid for opportunity to attend. All proceeds benefit the
church.
Neighborhood News Team:
Monthly publication throughout the church year of news, information, and
events. Available to members and visitors via
electronic subscription
or paper copy by request.
History Project:
Volunteer group that meets throughout the year to archive and document
church history and host occasional history salons.
Web Task Force:
Revise and evaluate church website, as needed.
Facilities Maintenance Advisors:
Reviews and recommends proposed maintenance expenditures and improvements
for existing campus facilities.
Landscape and Grounds Committee:
Augments professional gardening service with gardening and beautification
projects for church campus and welcomes volunteers interested in helping.
Music Committee:
Supports the Music Director and Music Programs by providing vision and
support with work projects, publicity, and concert receptions for both
Pasadena Pro Musica and Music at Neighborhood concert series.
Committee on Ministry:
Worship and ministerial advisory committee.
Worship Sound and Lighting Committee:
Provides sanctuary sound and lighting services for all church events,
including sermon recordings for sale and website broadcast.
Ushers:
Serves congregation by handing out and collecting hymnals along with the
Orders of Service and Announcement pages, collecting and counting the
offering, recording attendance, and assisting with seating, and other
needed tasks during regular and special Sunday services.
Coffee Committee:
Creates a welcoming atmosphere and opportunity for conversation by
providing coffee and refreshment service on Sunday mornings.
Welcome Committee:
Provides welcome to newcomers through Welcome Table, greeters, nametag
service, orientation sessions, New to Neighborhood sessions, New Members
ceremony, and the Newcomer Potluck.
Membership Committee:
Advisory group that assists with the evaluation and oversight of the
church's membership process and maintenance, as well as serves as
ambassadors to our newest members as they form connections into the
church community.
Youth Religious Education Committee:
This committee is charged with developing and supporting programming for
children and youth.
Pastoral Care Service Committee:
Coordinates a response to the practical needs of church members, such as
providing meals during illnesses and recovery, rides to medical
appointments, hosting memorial service receptions, and sending cards of
remembrance and sympathy.
Pastoral Care Support Team:
The Support Team is a small group of carefully selected and trained
church members who are prepared to offer confidential support and a
"ministry of presence" to other church members who are experiencing a
period of transition, crisis or life change.
Social Justice Council:
Promotes social, economic, and environmental justice and to be an agent
of systemic social change through church programs and in collaboration
with other Social Justice agencies.
