It is the goal of Neighborhood Church that all of its members represent a caring presence for each other to build a beloved community. To this end, the Pastoral Care Ministry serves the needs of church members through its four branches: ministers, Service Committee, Support Team, and Life Issues Education.
Ministers
Whether you need support while hospitalized or home bound, someone to officiate at a marriage, commitment ceremony, child dedication, or memorial, or you would like to explore religious questions and your relationship with Neighborhood Church, the ministers are available to listen with a sympathetic ear.
Service Committee
The Service Committee reponds to the practical needs of church members in several ways. Among their activities, committee members:
- Provide meals to those who are ill, have a new baby, or are otherwise in need of temoprary assistance in this area
- Offer rides to medical appointments and to church services (advance notice requested)
- Call housebound members to maintain their connection with the church
- Distribute holiday wreaths and flowers
- Provide receptions after member memorial services
- Host social gatherings for senior church members
Support Team
The Support Team is a small group of carefully selected and trained church members who are prepared to offer confidential support and a "ministry of presence" to other church members who are experiencing a period of transition, crisis or life change. The Support Team is not a substitute for but an addition to the ministerial services offered by our ministers. The Team members work closely with the ministers and with the Pastoral Care Coordinator in offering a ministry of support to the church community.
Life Issues Education
The Pastoral Care Ministry at Neighborhood Church also offers "Life Issues Education" - timely workshops, articles and speakers on topics of general interest to the church community. These offerings include:
- Newborn and childhood concerns
- Safety in the home
- Illnesses and Health Issues
- End of life issues
