Esperanza Group Working

Neighborhood Members In Tijuana
About 30 Neighborhood Church members and friends attended our recent house-building trip in Tijuana to work alongside families whose homes were being built through Esperanza International. It was two full days of concrete, dust, and physical labor, but most receive much more from the trip than they give. Some of their thoughts about the trip:

“... What keeps going through my head is the living conditions of the people we visited. ...the mother of two small children was living in a shack no bigger than my living room. ...despite their very modest dwelling...she was as happy as any kid you would find in the United States.”

“I am impressed with the graciousness of our hostess and her family and the hard work jovially put in by neighbors and friends when needed. The neighborhood must be very close.”

Esperanza 1 “We met in our circle this morning—28 NC Volunteers and two Esperanza staff. This was the tenth time I have come to the Posada to work with many of these same people and leaders. As we went around the circle each introducing ourselves and why we had come to Tijuana...the words spoken from this group were words from our hearts. We have built a family amongst this group...” “This is my eighth time working in Tijuana. Each time I come down there is something to learn. Why do I come back? I love working with a family, I love the community building both with these people in Tijuana and with my church family.”

Building blocks, heavy.
Lifting, lift! You can do it.
Laying their foundation.
