At Neighborhood Church, we strive to provide Lifelong Learning opportunities which will foster your own spiritual exploration, introduce you to new people, deepen on-going relationships, and strengthen your involvement in Neighborhood Church.
In 2006 Neighborhood Church embarked on a strategic planning process. We looked
at the church through four thematic windows under the acronym RISE:
It is within this same framework that we have organized our classes & workshops. We hope that you will enjoy and participate in the many opportunities for growth and exploration listed here. May these classes stimulate your mind, stir your heart, and encourage deeper exploration. May the road RISE to meet you on your lifelong learning journey.
Facilitators: All of the facilitators are church members and/or staff at Neighborhood with knowledge and expertise in the class subjects. Often, prominent community leaders and non-members with specific expertise may also lead classes.
Fees: There is sometimes a minimum fee for each class to cover materials and related expenses. Fees vary from $15 - $50 per person depending upon the class, its leader, and materials. Some classes are free. Scholarships are available; please contact our Director of Religious Education for an application.
Program Schedule: All Lifelong Learning opportunities will be published in a catalog with specific scheduling and enrollment details on a 2 term schedule. The first term runs September - December, the second term runs January - May. We often run at least one class which spans the entire church year October - June. Classes are offered at a variety of dates, times and with varied number of sessions weekly, monthly, or as weekend retreats. Please consult the program catalog available by clicking the link to the left.
Registration: We ask that you pre-register for classes. Many of our offerings have a minimum or maximum number of participants. Registering will also put you on the class email list to receive updates and reminders. There are several ways to register; you may fill out the form found in the Lifelong Learning Catalog and mail it or drop it off to the church office with a check or credit card number; you may sign up at the Lifelong Learning table or Social Justice table for Social Justice classes.
Childcare: We are committed to providing childcare for all classes & events open to the entire congregation. To ensure safety and adequate supervision, we request that you reserve a space for your child at least one week in advance by contacting Erika Stallings, Religious Education Program Assistant at 626-449-3470 ext. 12 or REassistant@uuneighborhood.org.
